Priest assignments include moves, retirements and discernment

Bishop Dennis Walsh has announced new assignments for nine priests effective July 1.

  • Fr. Dickinson

    Father Dane Dickinson will serve as parochial administrator of St. James Parish-Washington. He currently serves as parochial vicar of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish-Bettendorf. Raised in Douds, Iowa, he attended St. Mary Parish-Fairfield. He worked for eight years in the automotive industry before teaching high school and then discerning a call to the priesthood. Archbishop Thomas Zinkula of the Archdiocese of Dubuque ordained Father Dickinson June 1, 2024 at Sacred Heart Cathedral-Davenport.

  • Fr. Doucette

    Isaac Doucette will become parochial vicar of St. Patrick Parish-Ottumwa, St. Mary of the Visitation Parish-Ottumwa and St. Mary Magdalen Parish-Bloomfield. He currently serves as parochial vicar at Ss. Mary & Mathias Parish-Muscatine. Born in Wisconsin, he later attended St. Mary Parish-Iowa City. He worked in finance before discerning a call to the priesthood. Bishop Zinkula ordained Father Doucette June 3, 2023 at Sacred Heart Cathedral.

  • Fr. Foley

    Father Scott Foley is relieved of his present assignment as pastor of St. Mary Parish-Grinnell and St. Patrick Parish-Brooklyn to discern a vocation to the Congregation of Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception of Blessed Virgin Mary.

  • Fr. Nguyen

    Father Duoc “Dominic” H. Nguyen will serve as parochial administrator of St. Mary Parish-Grinnell and St. Patrick Parish-Brooklyn. He currently serves as parochial vicar of Divine Mercy Parish-Burlington and St. Mary Parish-Dodgeville. Born in Vietnam, he arrived in the United States in 2014 to study pharmacy before discerning a call to the priesthood. Bishop Zinkula ordained Father Nguyen June 3, 2023 at Sacred Heart Cathedral.

  • Fr. Page

    Father Stephen Page will enter retirement. He currently serves as pastor of St. Joseph Parish-DeWitt and Ss. Philip & James Parish-Grand Mound. He previously served at St. Paul the Apostle Parish-Davenport, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish-Bettendorf, St. Bridget Parish-Victor, St. Patrick Parish-Marengo, St. Mary Parish-Fairfield and St. Thomas More Parish-Coralville. Bishop Gerald O’Keefe ordained Father Page June 19, 1987 at Sacred Heart Cathedral.

  • Fr. Roush

    Father William Roush will enter retirement. Currently, he serves as pastor of Holy Family Parish-Riverside. During his ministry there, Holy Trinity Parish-Richmond, St. Mary Parish-Riverside and St. Joseph Parish-Wellman merged to become Holy Family Parish. Previously, he served as parochial vicar at Ss. John & Paul-Parish-Burlington and Ss. Mary & Patrick Parish-West Burlington, which merged to become Divine Mercy Parish-Burlington/West Burlington. He also served at St. Mary Parish-Dodgeville. A widower with two daughters, he worked at Monsanto for 25 years and was a partner in two small businesses before entering the seminary. Bishop Martin Amos ordained Father Roush June 6, 2015 at Sacred Heart Cathedral.

  • Fr. Snyder

    Father Michael Snyder will serve as parochial administrator of St. Joseph Parish-DeWitt and Ss. Philip & James Parish-Grand Mound. He currently serves as parochial vicar of Our Lady of Victory Parish-Davenport. A widower with two daughters and a convert to the Catholic faith, he worked at Deere & Co. Ordained to the permanent diaconate in 2017, he later entered the seminary in 2022. Archbishop Zinkula ordained Father Snyder June 1, 2024 at Sacred Heart Cathedral.

  • Fr. Snyder

    Father Benjamin Snyder will become parochial administrator of Holy Family Parish-Riverside. He serves as parochial vicar of St. Patrick Parish-Ottumwa, St. Mary of the Visitation Parish-Ottumwa and St. Mary Magdalen Parish-Bloomfield. He is a native of Richland. He previously served as parochial vicar at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish-Bettendorf. Bishop Zinkula ordained Father Snyder June 4, 2022 at Sacred Heart Cathedral.

  • P. Weir

    Father Bernard E. Weir will enter retirement. He currently serves as pastor of St. James Parish-Washington. He previously served at St. John Vianney Parish-Bettendorf, St. Boniface Parish-Farmington, St. Mary Parish-String Prairie, St. Paul Parish-Burlington, St. Joseph Parish-Columbus Junction, St. Mary Parish-Wapello, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish-Muscatine, Ss. Mary & Mathias Parish-Muscatine and St. Mary of the Visitation Parish-Ottumwa. He is a native of Albia. Bishop O’Keefe ordained Father Weir June 21, 1986 at St. Mary Church in Albia.
