Gratitude for faith series
To the Editor:
The “Pathways to the Divine” series, presented by Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat in Wheatland recently concluded after 16 enriching programs. Each month, a different faith welcomed the public into their worship spaces, providing a unique opportunity to learn about diverse religious practices. The series was accessible in-person and online, ensuring that even those unable to travel could participate.
Throughout the series, we were privileged to explore the depth and core of many world religions in the Quad Cities. Visiting mosques, temples, chapels, churches, synagogues and cathedrals, we learned how each faith community interprets their beliefs in relation to the needs of the world, promoting interfaith respect and understanding.
This program was essential in today’s divided world, highlighting the common path of love and acceptance shared by all faiths. Each community we visited demonstrated a commitment to cooperation and genuine love for others, regardless of their traditional beliefs.
The atmosphere was one of curiosity and openness rather than judgment, making it a truly enlightening experience. The series title, “Pathways to the Divine,” perfectly captured the essence of our journey. It encouraged us to listen to each other, fostering a spirit of connection and unity.
This series was an easy, accessible way to learn about other faith traditions. Every faith community was welcoming, transparent and loving. It was a reminder that, despite our differences, the core message of love and caring for our neighbor is universal.
