Oct. 23
Davenport — To kick off National Black Catholic History Month, a documentary about Venerable Father Augustus Tolton will be shown in Sears Diocesan Hall at Sacred Heart Cathedral at 6:30 p.m. Screening is sponsored by St. Martin de Porres Society and Notre Dame Club of the Quad Cities. A Q&A session will follow.

Oct. 26
Clinton — A pro-life breakfast to benefit local pro-life ministries will take place at Jesus Christ, Prince of Peace Parish from 7:30-10:30 a.m. Menu includes sausage, scrambled eggs, french toast, tater tots, pancakes and beverages. A free will donation will be accepted.

Richmond — The Holy Trinity Church community is hosting a drive-through fall dinner from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Free will donations will be accepted for fried chicken and pork loin dinners. An online auction will take place Oct. 17-24 at sierenauctionsales.com.

Nov. 1
Altoona, Iowa — Statewide 4th degree Knights of Columbus exemplifications will take place at 2 p.m. at Ss. John and Paul Parish. A catered meal will be served at 6:30 p.m. with entertainment afterward. Cost is $35 for the evening event. Contact your local Knights of Columbus council or assembly for more information.

Davenport — Knights of Columbus are hosting a trivia night at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Doors open at 6 p.m. and trivia starts at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $15 per person. Bring your own snacks and beverages. Register your team and reserve a table of 8 at RODL.LL@hotmail.com

Davenport — Our Lady of Victory Parish Christmas Carousel Bazaar (inside John F. Kennedy Catholic School) Nov. 1 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and Nov. 2 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Crafts, candy and bake shop, breakfast and lunch served.

Nov. 2
Iowa City — St. Mary Parish will present a harp concert at 3 p.m. featuring songs of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The event is free and open to the public.

Keota — Holy Trinity Parish is hosting a harvest dinner from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the parish center. Meal consists of smoked pork loin, cheesy potatoes and other sides, and dessert for a free will offering. Carryouts available.

Nov. 3
Davenport — St. Martin de Porres Society invites you to attend the Feast of St. Martin de Porres celebration with Mass at 5:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral. A candlelight procession around the cathedral grounds will follow. Fellowship to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the society follows in Sears Diocesan Hall.

Davenport — St. Anthony Parish’s book study group meets Mondays at 6 p.m. A study of “Jesus Wept” by Philip Shenon begins Nov. 3.

Nov. 5
Burlington — Join Bishop Dennis Walsh and others to learn more about the priesthood and how God might be calling you to cast “into the deep.” For more information or to RSVP go to https://davenportdiocese.org/duc-in-altum.

Nov. 8
Iowa City — St. Patrick Parish is hosting a morning retreat, “Cultivating the Fruits of the Spirit,” beginning with Mass at 8:30 a.m. The program take places from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and includes a light breakfast, four talks with small group discussions and a Q&A. Burlington — Holy Family Parish is hosting a holiday bazaar in the All Saints Catholic School gymnasium from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Shop crafts, baked goods, ornaments, once-again treasurers and a silent auction.

Davenport — St. Alphonsus fall craft sale and raffle is from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the St. Alphonsus gymnasium. Breakfast and lunch served.

Nov. 9
Camanche — Church of the Visitation Parish is hosting a holiday bazaar from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Festivities include a quilt raffle, silent auction, bake sale and craft items. Lunch is available to purchase for eat in or carry out.

Nov.30-Dec. 6
Online — Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat is hosting an Ignatian Advent retreat online. The opening session will take place Nov. 30 from 3-4 p.m. Retreatants will meet individually with a spiritual director Dec. 1-5. The closing session will take place Dec. 6 from 3-4 p.m. Cost is $95. Davenport — Humility Homes and Services seeks donations of basic hygiene items including deodorant, soap, toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, baby wipes, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, paper towels, bandages, menstrual products and ethnic hair products. LeClaire — Our Lady of the River Parish Caregiver Support Group meets the first Monday of every month in the parish hall from 10:30-11:30 a.m. unless it falls on a holiday. It is open to all caregivers who are looking for emotional and spiritual support as well as resources available to them. The facilitator is Amie Hammes, caregiver support specialist at Milestones Area Agency on Aging. Loved ones are welcome to attend and meet separately as long as no physical care is required during the hour. Learn the Couple to Couple League method of Natural Family Planning (NFP), which gives couples the knowledge to track fertility signs as a way to achieve or avoid pregnancy. NFP is the only method of family planning approved by the Catholic Church and modern, symptom-based methods demonstrate an accuracy of about 99% in identifying times of fertility and infertility, according to the European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology.
