To the Editor:
Again, I am deeply edified by the witness of Deacon Ray Dever and his family in the Dec. 16 article in The Catholic Messenger (A deacon family’s journey with transgenderism). I commend The Catholic Messenger and the Diocesan Gender Committee for the courage and wisdom to educate us on this issue.
The scientific information, knowledge and, most importantly, a family’s real lived experience with transgenderism provides us the opportunity as people and as church to reflect on our care and compassion for those whose lived experience differs from ours. We all remain made in the image and likeness of our loving God.
