Sister Mary Ellen McDonagh, BVM, died Nov. 3 at Caritas Center in Dubuque, Iowa. She was 67.
Sr. McDonagh was born Nov. 17, 1950, in St. Louis to John and Rosemary Burke McDonagh. She entered the BVM congregation on Jan. 14, 1973.
In the Diocese of Davenport, Sr. McDonagh taught at Assumption High School in Davenport. She also taught in Missouri, Illinois and Arizona. Additionally, she served as a newspaper editor, a communications coordinator, assistant administrator and was a peace and social justice advocate.
A visitation took place Nov. 9 at Marian Hall Chapel in Dubuque, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial is in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
