Three teachers from Lourdes Catholic School in Bettendorf were nominated by students for the Chick-fil-a Teacher of the Year award out of the east Davenport store.
Third-grade teacher Gloria Mesick was nominated by Thomas Gillitzer, second-grade teacher Amy Paul was nominated by Kaylee Franks and middle school science and math teacher Lindsay Driscoll was nominated by Morgan Gillitzer.
On April 26 Amanda Clark, marketing director for the 53rd Street Chick-fil-a and a cow mascot visited Lourdes. Principal Jennifer Alongi escorted the guests to the three classrooms. None of the teachers in the school knew of the nominations and visit.
Clark said the 53rd Street restaurant accepts nominations for all public, private and homeschool programs in Davenport east of Eastern Avenue and all of Bettendorf. Twenty-five teachers were nominated in that region.
The three Lourdes teachers were honored to be nominated. Each teacher and a few guests were treated to a free meal on May 2.
