Catholic education is a tradition

Facebooktwittermail

Dear People of God,

Catholic Schools Week celebrations across the nation and here in the Diocese of Davenport will begin Sunday, Jan. 29. The theme for the 2017 Catholic Schools Week: Catholic Schools; Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service, clearly articulates the tradition of Catholic education.

Bishop Amos

Catholic Schools Week offers an opportunity to draw attention to the academic, faith development and service activities students pursue all year long. It is also a way to celebrate the students by planning fun and meaningful activities for them and to recognize their accomplishments. Students are also encouraged to reflect on the benefits of a Catholic education and how its grounding in faith, knowledge and service will help them throughout their lives.

I feel immense gratitude for the gifts of time, talent and treasure provided by pastors, administrators, teachers, staff members and parents for the benefit of our Catholic schools. Because of the generosity of our parishioners, benefactors and alumni, students now and in the future will continue to benefit from our distinctive Catholic education. The schools of the Diocese of Davenport stand strong because of you.

May the gifts of the Holy Spirit continue to fill our hearts and minds with vision to shape a faith-filled future for Catholic education.

Sincerely in Christ/Sinceramente en Cristo
