To the Editor:

Keeping our eyes on the prize of building the culture of life, Holy Family Parish-Davenport and the Black and White committee are bringing people of goodwill together at the seventh annual Black and White Gala. The event will be held Aug. 12 on the campus of St. Ambrose University in Davenport.

The Celebration of Life Mass begins at 5:30 p.m. in Christ the King Chapel with Bishop Martin Amos presiding. Our area priests will concelebrate, deacons will serve and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Honor Guard will participate to add to this joy-filled liturgy. All our religious sisters are invited to be our guests. Back by popular demand, the bagpiper will lead the procession from the chapel to the gala.

During the social hour participants will have their choice of beverages, an opportunity to mix and mingle, visit displays, talk with representatives of area pro-life ministries, and begin bidding on more than 100 silent auction items. Raffle tickets will be available at $5 a piece or six for $25. Prizes include one-week accommodations at the winner’s destination of choice in the Wyndham Resorts Network; $500 caricature portrait by artist Leo Kelly; $300 lighting package from Shaw Electric; $250 gas/food voucher; $250 cash; and a girl’s bicycle from Calhoun Bike Rack.
