This year’s Catholic Camporee, “The Quest for the West,” will take place April 29-May 1. All Catholic Boy Scouts and Venture Crew members are invited to this faith filled camporee. Individuals, troops and crews are invited to attend.

Contributed Scouts participate in a jousting match at Catholic Camporee in April. Scouts from the Davenport Diocese and Dubuque Archdiocese participated in the weekend event.

Scouts participated in a jousting match at Catholic Camporee last year.

The camporee will take place at Camp Wakonda near Central City, Iowa. On Friday evening, campers will participate in a fellowship cracker barrel, prayer and a campfire. A morning prayer and flag opening ceremony will take place Saturday morning, followed by a meadow canoe challenge course, archery, axe throwing and lashing challenge. Buck skinners will be on site to show their skills and stories. Campers will also explore their navigational skills through a cross-country navigation game. At the end of the day, campers will celebrate and evening Mass with Father Ron Hodges and reflect on the day’s activities. A dinner and evening campfire will follow.

This event satisfies the retreat requirement for the Ad Altare Dei.

To register or for more information visit Hawkeyecatholic.eventbrite.com. Deadline to apply is April 25. Walk-in scouts will also be accepted during weekend registration.
