Bishop’s Mass for Scouting Feb. 28

DAVENPORT — A Bishop’s Mass for Scouting will take place at Sacred Heart Cathedral Feb. 28 at 4 p.m. The purpose of the Mass is to celebrate scouting and to acknowledge scouts who have earned religious emblem awards.
All scouts, leaders and families and friends of scouting are invited. Scouts and leaders are encouraged to wear uniforms. Scouts invited includ Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts, Camp Fire Girls and Boys and American Heritage Girls.
Following Mass, there will be a religious emblem ceremony in the cathedral. A reception in the lower level of the parish center will follow.
The Diocesan Catholic Com­mittee on Scouting is hosting the event. Committee member Denise McMonagle said, “The Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting is a group of concerned lay persons and clergy who share the mission of creating viable youth ministry through scouting programs to enhance the faith of all involved.”
Persons interested in attending should email dccs@diodav.org or call (563)-370-7258. McMonagle said, “As the Mass is the center of our faith, we hope that many will join us at the Bishop’s Mass for Scouting.”
