Jennifer Alongi has been named the new principal of Lourdes Catholic School in Bettendorf. She served as principal of Notre Dame Elementary in Burlington last school year.

“Our Faith Formation Board was extremely impressed with Ms. Alongi’s experience and understanding of what it takes to lead a Catholic grade school. Her faith, passion, strong work ethic and leadership skills will make her a great principal. We are looking forward to working with her for years to come,” said Mike Puthoff, vice president of the Lourdes Faith Formation Board.
Alongi said she is “deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been of service to Notre Dame staff and students over the past year, and I will truly miss all of them.
“In my first year as a school principal, I learned a lot about leading and a lot about myself, and I believe that I have grown as a result of this experience. Notre Dame will remain close to my heart and always in my prayers.”
She said she is thrilled to move to a preschool through eighth-grade building after having spent 14 years at an intermediate school in Davenport and then preschool through fifth grade in Burlington. She also likes the fact that the school is physically attached to Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
Alongi’s last day at Notre Dame was Aug. 8 and her first day at Lourdes began Aug. 11.
Katie Gavin, president of the Notre Dame Board of Education, said Notre Dame is taking this opportunity to restructure its leadership to more closely align a preschool-12 system. “Therefore, Mr. (Bill) Maupin will be assuming PreK-12 administrator and we are looking for a PreK-12 assistant principal.”
