Iowa City – Sister Jane Dominic Laurel, O.P., an assistant professor of theology at Aquinas College in Nashville, will present “Masculinity & Femininity: Difference and Gift” at St. Patrick Parish Hall on June 28 at 7 p.m. The talk is aimed at teens and young adults, but all are invited. Burlington — Bishop Martin Amos will celebrate a special Year of Faith Mass with Keokuk Deanery priests on Saturday, July 20, at 5 p.m. in Burlington Memorial Auditorium. A picnic will take place after the liturgy. Regular Saturday evening Masses in the deanery are cancelled on this date.
Davenport — The Sisters of Humility invite the general public to pray with them at 11:40 a.m. Wednes­days during a special Mass for peace. It will be celebrated in the Magnificat Chapel at the Humility of Mary Center, 820 W. Central Park Ave.
Grand Mound – Msgr. Marvin Mottet will celebrate a healing Mass on Sunday, June 30, at 5 p.m. at Ss. Philip & James Church. A light supper will be served at 6:30 p.m. RSVP by calling (563) 321-0124.  Also, Msgr. Mottet will train any parishioner interested in being part of a healing Mass prayer team, with an emphasis on receiving gifts of the Holy Spirit.  Prior to the Mass, there will be eucharistic adoration from 3:30-4:30 p.m., with extended times for reconciliation.
Iowa City — Centering prayer groups meet from 7-8 p.m. Mondays at the Mercy Hospital chapel, and from 9-11:30 a.m. the fourth Saturday of each month at a member’s home. For more information, call Maureen Kelley at (319) 338-8284.
Melrose — The Knights of Columbus of Albia sponsor a 24-hour adoration the first Friday of the month at St. Patrick Church in Melrose. MEETINGS
Moline, Ill. – The Secular Discalced Carmelite Community of St. Joseph and the Prophet Elijah invites people to join in the study of prayer in the tradition of St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross. RETREATS
Wheatland —  Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat  invites people to the following events. From July 1-8 from 7 p.m. to 10 a.m., private or directed retreats are available. Fee: $60 per day. Spiritual direction or a massage are available for an extra fee.  On July 3 is a mini-retreat from 10 a.m. to noon. Mass is at 10 a.m., followed by a variety of programs and lunch. Fee: $8. On July 7 at 5 p.m. is a Taize vigil service. Churches of all faith traditions are invited. Supper follows. Freewill offering. Davenport – St. Patrick Society’s trivia night is Friday, July 12, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1111 W. 35th St. Doors open at 6 p.m., and trivia starts at 7 p.m. Cost is $80 per table, eight players per team. There will be a 50/50 drawing and Irish Festival raffle tickets. Food and snacks are allowed; beverages will be available for purchase. Funds support the Grand Parade. Davenport – The 2013 Fr. Ken Martin Golf Outing & Dinner will be held Aug. 28 at Emeis Golf Course at 12:30 p.m., followed by dinner at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Proceeds go to the Assumption Foundation for K-12 Catholic Schools to provide an emergency scholarship fund for families in crisis situations. Iowa City —  The Diocese of Davenport’s Catholic Young Adult Network invites 18-39-year-olds to its second annual Mass and barbecue on July 14 at St. Patrick Church. Sugar Creek – Ss. Mary & Joseph Parish will hold its lawn social July 14 at the church, 3218 110th St., Preston. A beef and pork dinner will be served from 3-7:30 p.m. Cost for adults is $7.50 in advance or $8 at the door. Cost is $4 for children ages 6-12 and free for children 5 and younger. Carry-outs are available. Music starts at 5 p.m. Kim and Rose Strait will provide violin music before the Corn Fed Girls perform. Welton – St. Anne’s annual parish dinner of beef and grilled chicken with a salad bar will be June 30 at Buzzy’s from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $9 for adults, and $5 for children ages 5-12 and free for children younger than 5. There will be cash drawings.
