Defending Catholicism

Facebooktwittermail

To the Editor:
A letter writer in the Quad-City Times said Catholics need a history lesson. We can all learn from history and I happen to love it. However, the letter writer could learn something from modern history. One rule of interfaith dialogue is that you take the other party’s word for what they believe and what they teach.
As for modern history: in recent years, more than 2,000 Protestant ministers have come into the Catholic Church and there are 2,000 more “in the pipeline.” These are intelligent and well-educated people who have thought their way through all these arguments and objections and have paid a heavy price for their decisions.
May I suggest that readers contact The Coming Home Network, P.O. Box 8290, Zanesville, Ohio, 43702, to read about their journeys? Or, might I suggest that they watch the weekly TV program “The Journey Home,” repeated three times each week on EWTN to hear these folks tell their stories. I have watched this program and read the written reports for several years and I have learned a lot from them.
