DAVENPORT — A dove, representing a symbol of peace, merges with a dynamic flame that brings to mind the Holy Spirit in a new logo for The Congregation of the Humility of Mary (CHM). The logo’s tagline reads: “Congregation of the Humility of Mary — Inspired by God. Serving You.”
CHM administration and staff decided that their communications material needed a new look and feel, based on new developments and initiatives. Among those developments: the congregation’s more direct sponsorship of Our Lady of The Prairie Retreat near Wheatland, focused emphasis on membership development and the upcoming 150th anniversary of the congregation in the U.S. in 2014.
“It was clear the time had come to review and renew all print and electronic media that carry and promote the CHM vision, mission and message,” said Lisa Martin, CHM communications director.
In addition, the congregation recognized that the Church and world they live in, as well as the CHM community, have been changing rapidly during the past years. Like most apostolic communities, the congregation had been centered in institutional ministries such as Catholic schools and hospitals. After Vatican II, the Sisters moved into many other areas and have been engaged in a wide variety of ministries among those whose voices are often not heard, Martin said.
