Davenport – Semin­arian Jacob Greiner, 30, will be ordained as a transitional deacon at 10 a.m. on April 28 at Sacred Heart Cathed­ral. He is currently studying for the priesthood at St. Paul School of Theology in St. Paul, Minn. He is a member of Holy Trinity Parish in Keota.
Melrose — The Knights of Columbus of Albia sponsors a 24-hour adoration the first Friday of the month at St. Patrick Church in Melrose. Moline, Ill. – The Secular Discalced Carmelite Community of St. Joseph and the Prophet Elijah invites people to join in the study of prayer in the tradition of St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross. Washington — A healing Mass with Msgr. Marvin Mottet,  Father William Kneemiller and Father Troy Richmond will be celebrated Friday, May 4, at St. James Church.  Confessions start at 6 p.m., and Mass at 7 p.m. All are welcome.
MEETINGS
Bettendorf — The next presentation of the “Called and Gifted” series will be held May 30 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. Part I will be held on five successive Wednesday evenings, 6:30-9 p.m. beginning May 30 in the church’s gathering space. Bro­chures with registration forms are available at parishes in the Daven­port Deanery. “Called and Gifted” is to help Catholics discover God’s call in their lives by discerning their unique spiritual gifts and charisms, which have been bestowed in baptism. Davenport — The St. Anthony Church grief group facilitators will offer a 9-week Grief Support Group. This group is for anyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one. It starts Tuesday, May 1, and runs from 3:30-5 p.m. in the parish’s confidential and comfortable library, just north of the church.  The church and office address is 417 N. RETREATS
Wheatland – Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat invites people to the following event: “Plant and Picnic at The Prairie” is Monday, April 30, from 4–8 p.m. People may come for an hour or two to weed, prepare for mulching or plant annuals. Bettendorf — St. John Vianney Parish in Bettendorf is hosting a Trivia Night on May 19 in the church activity center to benefit the Youth Group Fire Pit Project. Festivities begin with a spaghetti supper. Dinner and trivia is $15 per person; doors open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner served at 6 p.m. and trivia starting at 7 p.m. Trivia will be played by eight-person teams; participants must be at least 12 years old. If you don’t have a full team, organizers will find one for you. Trivia consists of 10 rounds of 10 general knowledge questions. Mulligans will be sold 10 for $10. Everyone’s name will be entered into a drawing for door prizes. First-place team will receive its money back; the second-place team will receive half of its money back. Iowa City – The Informed Choices of Iowa City Medical Clinic “Walk for Life” is on May 5. Walk locations are at City Park, Iowa City; Kent Park, Oxford; and Lake Macbride State Park, Solon. The 2-mile walk starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 10 a.m. For more information, call (319) 337-0575.
LeClaire – Our Lady of the River Parish is hosting a “Trivia Night” on May 5 to benefit its kitchen remodeling project. Doors open at 6 p.m. and trivia starts at 6:30 p.m. in the parish hall, 28200 226th St. Place. Trivia will consist of 10 rounds of 10 general knowledge questions played by teams of eight to 10 people.  Anyone ages 12 and up may participate. If you don’t have a table, come anyway and be assigned to a table. Cost is $10 per person with a table minimum of $50.
