Parish clusterings, priest assignment changes

Effective Friday, June 29, 2012, the Solemnity of SS. Peter & Paul

Clustering in accordance with the Diocesan Parish Plan:

SS. Philip & James, Grand Mound, will become part of the cluster of Sacred Heart, Lost Nation; St. James, Toronto; and Sacred Heart, Oxford Junction (Archdiocese of Dubuque) with one priest serving the four parishes.

St. Joseph, DeWitt and St. Anne, Welton will cluster with one priest serving the two parishes.

St. Patrick, Delmar will join the cluster of Assumption & St. Patrick, Charlotte; Immaculate Conception, Petersville; and SS. Mary & Joseph, Sugar Creek with one priest serving the four parishes.

Holy Family, Davenport will be served by one priest.

Rev. Richard J. Beyer, relieved of present assignment as half-time parochial vicar of St. Mary Parish, Iowa City, and half-time Priest Campus Minister, Newman Catholic Student Center, Iowa City, and assigned as part-time chaplain at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

Rev. David L. Brownfield, Ph.D., relieved of present assignment as pastor of St. Patrick Parish, Delmar; SS. Philip & James Parish, Grand Mound; and St. Anne Parish, Welton; and assigned as pastor of Holy Trinity Parish, Richmond; St. Mary Parish, Riverside; and St. Joseph Parish, Wellman.

Rev. Paul E. Connolly, while remaining in present assignment as pastor of St. Joseph Parish, DeWitt, assigned as pastor of St. Anne, Welton.

Rev. William C. Kneemiller, relieved of present assignment as pastor of St. Joseph Parish, Hills; St. Mary Parish, Lone Tree; and St. Mary Parish, Nichols; and assigned as pastor of the cluster of SS. Philip & James Parish, Grand Mound; Sacred Heart Parish, Lost Nation; St. James Parish, Toronto; and, with the consent of the Archbishop of Dubuque, of Sacred Heart Parish, Oxford Jct.

Rev. Scott G. Lemaster, while remaining in present assignment as pastor of Assumption & St. Patrick Parish, Charlotte; Immaculate Conception Parish, Petersville; and SS. Mary & Joseph Parish, Sugar Creek; assigned as pastor of St. Patrick, Delmar.

Rev. Dennis C. Martin, to retirement from assignment as pastor of St. Bernadette Parish, West Branch, and St. Joseph Parish, West Liberty.

Rev. George W. McDaniel, Ph.D., while remaining as Chancellor of the Diocese of Davenport, relieved of current assignment as parochial vicar of Holy Family Parish, Davenport, and granted full retirement.

Rev. Michael J. Spiekermeier, relieved of present assignment as pastor of St. Paul the Apostle, Davenport; and assigned as pastor of St. Joseph Parish, Hills; St. Mary Parish, Lone Tree; and St. Mary Parish, Nichols.

Rev. Gregory A. Steckel, relieved of present assignment as administrator of Sacred Heart Parish, Lost Nation; St. James Parish, Toronto; and, with the consent of the Archbishop of Dubuque, of Sacred Heart Parish, Oxford Jct.; and assigned as administrator of St. Bernadette Parish, West Branch, and St. Joseph Parish, West Liberty.
