IOWA CITY – Glenn Plummer is serving as interim principal at Regina Junior/Senior High School in Iowa City since Dave Krummel resigned as principal last week.

The school’s board of education was notified Krummel intended to resign Feb. 28, according to a Feb. 29 email Regina sent to families. The board elected that evening to accept his resignation. “Per David’s request, it will go into effect immediately,” the email reads.

“We wish Mr. Krummel, and his family, only the best.”

A search for a permanent principal is underway.

Lee Iben, president of Regina Catholic Education Center, and Matt Pacha, chair of the board of education, said they could not discuss further details.

“Please keep Regina in your prayers as we progress through this important transition,” the email reads.

Plummer had been serving as assistant principal at the junior/senior high school.

A 1987 graduate of Regina, Krummel was the curriculum facilitator with the Clear Creek-Amana Community School District when he was named principal of the Iowa City school in 2009. He had previously worked as a science teacher, technology coordinator and school administration manager.
