This summer St. Joseph Catholic School upgraded its gym. New automatic fold-down bleachers and new main and side basketball hoops were installed. All the new backboards are glass.

According to Athletic Director Tony Foxen, the gym renovations cost around $70,000. The school raised the money by getting donations from Home and School, the St. Joe’s Boosters, and private donors.

The new bleachers took two-and-a-half days to install. Seating and Athletic Facilities Enterprises put in the bleachers. The new basketball hoops took five days to install, and Sports Construction Midwest did the work. Jansen Electric did the wiring for the bleachers, and it took two weeks.

A special thanks goes out to all the Boosters, the Alumni Club, and all the volunteers who helped make the gym renovations possible.

(Ira and Jack are seventh-graders at St. Joseph Catholic School.)
