Retreats slated in Wheatland

WHEATLAND — The following events will take place in May at Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat:

“Knit One, Pray Too,” a day of knitting, fellowship and prayer, is slated for Wednesday, May 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fee is $15, which includes lunch.

Bring size 11 or 13 knitting needles, three six-ounce skeins of yarn (or a project in progress), and create a prayer shawl, a scarf or a gift for someone in need of comfort.  Participants will knit and pray together and share “yarns” of their individual journeys.  All knitters, including beginners, are welcome.

Program leaders include Ann Green, a lay minister at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral and a private piano instructor. Anne Johnson is a fiber artist who has been knitting, spinning and sewing since childhood. Karen Brooke is a lay minister at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral and development director for the Sisters of Humility.

“Eph-Pha-Tha,” Which Means “Open Up” (Mark 7:31-36), will take place Tuesday, May 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Fee is $15, which includes lunch.

Participants will spend a day within the mystery of Mark’s story of the deaf and mute person healed by Jesus. They will share insights of how they hear and speak, and pray for the gifts of relationship. Bring your Bible and journaling book.  

Presenter Sister Alice Ann Byrne, OP, is a Sinsinawa Dominican educator and parish minister. For 20 years she gave retreats and spiritual direction in Montana and Washington.
