Sister Julia Clare Greene, BVM

Sister Julia Clare Greene, BVM, 97, a former educator in the Diocese of Davenport, died Dec. 6 at Caritas Center in Dubuque.

Born in Chicago, she entered the Sisters of Charity, BVM congregation Sept. 8, 1935, and professed first vows on March 19, 1938, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1943.

In the Diocese of Davenport, Sr. Greene taught at St. Paul High School in Burlington from 1945–47. She also taught high school in Mason City, Iowa; St. Louis and Kansas City, Mo.; Milwaukee; Burbank, Calif.; and Mundelein and Chicago, Ill. She served as assistant director in the financial aid office at Mundelein College in Chicago and as director of student finance at Clarke College in Dubuque.

Visitation was scheduled to be held Dec. 14 at Marian Hall Chapel in Dubuque, followed by a prayer service at 11 a.m. Her funeral was to be held at 1:30 p.m. Burial is in the Mount Carmel Cemetery, Dubuque.
