Robert Berry Sr.


Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Robert G. Berry, Sr., 87, of Davenport, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Davenport.

Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the Mass on Saturday at the church. The Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Berry passed away Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010 at the Genesis Medical Center, West Central Park, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the church.

Robert Gerard Berry, was born Feb. 17, 1923 in Davenport, a son of Clarence and Katherine (Bald) Berry. Bob was a graduate of St. Ambrose Academy. Bob proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was married to Helen Irene Skelley, on July 15, 1944 in Davenport. She preceded him in death on July 29, 2007. 


Bob was a machinist at the Rock Island Arsenal retiring in 1983 following 21 years of service. His greatest love was his wife. He enjoyed golfing until his health left him unable and he filled that void by attending The Y.

He was a longtime active member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.

Survivors include his children; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia (Roger) Stockwell, Tacoma, Wash., Julie (David) Smith, Bettendorf; sons, Bob Berry, Jr., Clarence “Gene” Berry, of Davenport and Paul Berry of Henderson, N.C.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, two grandchildren, a sister, Mary Buck, and two brothers, Gerry Berry and Louis Berry, a daughter-in-law, Marsha Berry.
