Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Juanita Ramirez, 98, a resident of Davenport, were Monday, Nov. 15, 2010 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Davenport. 

Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Davenport.

Juanita died Thursday, Nov. 11, at her home surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. Juanita Juarez was born March 20, 1912, in Irapuato Guanajuato, Mexico, the daughter of Guillermo and Prajedes (Franco) Juarez. She was united in marriage to Manuel Ramirez on July 4, 1933 in Davenport. He preceded her in death Aug. 3, 1975.

Juanita enjoyed cooking, crocheting and going to the casinos to enjoy their extensive buffets.  She was a member of the former St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Davenport.

Survivors include her daughters, Pauline Medina, East Moline, Ill.,  Mary Ann Mejorado, Davenport, Lucy (James) Seusy, Vallejo, Calif., Helen (Maurice) Doeckel, Santa Rosa, Calif., Lydia (Robert) Moreno, Allen, Texas, Margaret Overton, Davenport, Christine (Raul) Tamayo, Davenport, Ramona (Donald “Jr.”) Sims, Davenport and Connie (Raymond) Lohf, Davenport; sons, Tony (Jane) Ramirez, Davenport,  Michael (Dallas) Ramirez, Springfield, Ohio, and Manuel Ramirez, Jr., Davenport; 37 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great- grandchildren a brother, Manuel Franco, Davenport, and the anticipated birth of one great- grandchild and two great-great-grandchildren.

Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Ramirez; a son, Thomas Ramirez; grandsons, Tony Ramirez, Jr., and Ramano Ramirez; granddaughter, Tonya Tamayo; great- granddaughter, Dezaray Overton; sons-in-law, Albert Garcia III, Samuel Mejorado and Guadelupe Medina; brother and sister-in-law, Ignacio and Carmen Juarez, and sister and brother- in-law, Marie and Aurelio Mares. May they rest in peace.
