Halloween fest is educational

Faculty and staff were busy during Halloween as they thought outside of the box to make the day creative, educational and fun. Each teacher represented a country by dressing the part and even bringing in a sample of the country’s cuisine.

For example, kindergarten teacher Jennifer Koning dressed in an authentic Indian sari and wore a bindi. Her costume was shipped from New York City (compliments of a caring parent). The children also listened to traditional music from India and learned about some of the local customs.

Other countries represented included the United States of America, Sweden, Ireland, France, Scotland, Iceland, Germany, Congo, Holland and Jamaica.

The teachers had a great time with this activity and the students enjoyed learning in a new way. This made for a memorable 2010 Halloween celebration!
