The first- and second-grade classes have been learning about apples. Each child brought an apple from home, which was used for several activities.

Classes had fun weighing and measuring the circumference of the apples. As a culminating activity students took their annual field trip to an apple orchard near Fort Madison.

While there, students went on a hayride, watched apples being sorted, tasted apple cider, fed the goats and participated in other farm activities. It was such a fun day!

Students came back with several goodies, a better understanding of the apple cycle and a new taste for apples.
