Anyone seeking a fuller grasp of Scripture – for themselves or as a parent, catechist or parish leader – is welcome to attend a daylong event next month on “Building with the Bible Blueprint.”
God’s Word will play the central role Aug. 6 in the Davenport Diocese’s August Gathering, an annual event that brings parish leaders and parishioners together to explore their faith more deeply.
Presenter Joe Paprocki will discuss the history and literary style of books of the Bible, and give people the understanding they need to dig deeper into its meaning for their lives, said Pat Finan, diocesan faith formation coordinator.
Paprocki is the author of “The Bible Blueprint: A Catholic’s Guide to Understanding and Embracing God’s Word.”
“Joe is simple and clear in his approach,” Finan said. “He has a passion for people to know their faith so they can share it better… He also backs what he teaches with sound Scripture scholarship.”
The diocese hopes participants will feel much more comfortable with the Bible, Finan added. “This event will give them a much clearer sense of its structure and content.”
The gathering is slated for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Patrick Church in Iowa City. Registration deadline is July 30. Cost is $15, which includes lunch, refreshments and workshop materials.
