Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Heather A. Krogman, 32, a resident of Blue Grass, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2010 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 333 W. Lotte St., Blue Grass.

Burial will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ashton, Iowa. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. The family invites you to pray the rosary with them at 7:30 Friday at the funeral home. Additional visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Heather passed away at home on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 with her family by her side, after a 14-month valiant battle with cancer.

Heather Ann Bennett was born on Dec. 15, 1977 in Davenport, a daughter of Mark and Catherine (Haase) Bennett. She graduated from Davenport West High School in 1996 and earned her degree in chemical engineering from Iowa State University in 2000. Heather was united in marriage to Chad Krogman on March 24, 2001 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Blue Grass. Together, they brought two beautiful girls into this world, Grace, age 5, and Kaitlyn, age 3. Until the end, the girls were the most important part of Heather’s life. She cherished and adored her little girls.

After serving her internship with Bridgestone Bandag, she was invited to stay on with the company as a chemical engineer, and has been with them since graduating from Iowa State.

Heather had an accomplished swimming career. She was a four-year letter winner while at Davenport West. After serving as an alternate for the state qualifiers her freshman year, she qualified for state on her own her sophomore, junior and senior years in the breast stroke and individual medley. Heather then took her swimming credentials to Iowa State where she swam for two years, and coached for a year, competing twice at the Big 12 Championships.

Memorials may be made to the family, so they may establish a trust fund for the girl’s education. 

Heather is survived by her loving husband, Chad; daughters, Grace and Kaitlyn; her parents, Mark and Cathy Bennett, all of Blue Grass, her siblings, Stephan (Amanda) Bennett, Minneapolis, Lindsey (fiancé, Dan Rennecker) Bennett, Chicago, and Amy Bennett, Colorado Springs, Colo.; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jeanne and Wayne Krogman, Sibley; her brother-in-law, Steven (Joselle) Krogman, Hospers, Iowa, her sisters-in-law, Krissa (Tim) Paulsen, Granville, Iowa and Sheila (Brian) Vollink, Archer, Iowa; her grandparents, Dorothy Bennett, Rock Island, Ill., Mary and Jerry Haase, Apache Junction, Ariz., Dennis and Shirley Krogman and Clarence and Catherine Pohlen, all of Hospers, Iowa, and many loving nieces and nephews.
