Joyce Elaine Daly, 76, of Burlington, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

 Born March 13, 1933, in Burlington, she was the daughter of John T. and Viola M. Dirth Swisher. On Nov. 20, 1954, she married Thomas Edward Daly in Burlington. Mrs. Daly was a homemaker.

 She was a 1951 graduate of  Burlington High School.

 She was a member of Ss. John & Paul Catholic Church and the Des Moines County Genealogical Society. She liked genealogy, reading, traveling, painting, sketching and spending time with her grandchildren.

 Survivors include her husband Tom; four daughters, Katy (Al) Nielsen of Burlington, Tina (Jorje) Rios of Burlington, Lisa (Jay) Begner of West Burlington, and Kari (Jason) Green of Middletown; 11 grandchildren, Cody (Erin) and Kylie Nielsen, Parker and Olivia Rios, Emily and Clay Siefken, Landry and Bo Begner, Noah, Morgan and Ella Green; two brothers, Bill (Marty) Swisher of Burlington, and Jack Swisher of Middletown; and many nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her parents.

 Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the family to receive friends following a 5 p.m.rosary service until 7 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 2010, at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.

 The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Daly will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2010, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Patrick Hilgendorf as the celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center.

 The Hass-Thielen Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.
