Mardi Gras event slated in Oxford

OXFORD — Youths from St. Mary Parish in Oxford and St. Peter Parish in Cosgrove will host a Mardi Gras event Feb. 21 in St. Mary’s Auditorium, 133 E. Main St., Oxford.  The event will begin at 4 p.m. with Mass. A New Orleans-style dinner prepared by Augusta Restaurant will be served from 5-7 p.m. A chicken dinner will also be available. Cost is $10 for adults, $7 for students in seventh to 12th grades, $5 for students in kindergarten to sixth grade, and free for children 4 and younger.

At 6 p.m., a children’s costume contest and indoor parade will take place. The winner will get $50; the runner-up will get $25.

A euchre tournament will take place at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $5 per person to enter: Call Mike Ritchie at (319) 545-2776 or Rick Wells at (319) 545-2042. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place winners.

A food and cash bar will be available until 9 p.m.

Babysitting will be available for $5 per child from 6:30-8 p.m.  Raffle tickets for cash prizes will be sold.

Proceeds support youth ministry.
