Father William Reynolds, administrator of Sacred Heart Parish in Newton and Immaculate Conception Parish in Colfax, earned the State Blessed Michael McGivney Medal at the State Convention of the Iowa Knights of Columbus earlier this month in Des Moines. This award honors exemplary Knights of Columbus chaplains who are teachers of the faith, apostles of Christian family life, devoted parish priests, exemplars of charity, builders of Catholic fraternity and role models to their parishes.

The state organization will submit Father Reynolds’s name for consideration alongside medal recipients from other states for the Supreme Blessed Michael McGivney Medal.

Father Reynolds is a longtime Knights of Columbus chaplain who has served in state leadership roles. He came out of retirement last year to serve the Newton and Colfax parishes when their pastor, Father Marty Goetz, passed away after a long battle with cancer. Father Reynolds also serves as vice president of The Apostleship of the Sea of the USA, a Roman Catholic maritime ministry organization headquartered in Port Arthur, Texas.
