Benet House Retreat Center is owned and operated by the Sisters of St. Benedict at St. Mary Monastery, Rock Island, Illinois. It is located on 90 acres with walking paths, a wooded area, a lake and an abundance of wildlife. Benet House is seeking a full-time Director who is responsible for all operations, including programming retreats throughout the year. Benet House ‘welcomes each person as Christ’ (RB) and is open to all faiths. You may remember me as Chaplain O’Lear. I am the Anglican priest who joined your Nouwen study and led a silent retreat (as an Army chaplain) just before the pandemic hit. For many reasons, our family is seeking reception into the Catholic Church. I retired from the Army in 2021 and am currently a seminary professor in South College’s Doctor of Ministry program. I led multiple retreats in Europe and the U.S. each year during my two decades as an Army chaplain. I also led conferences as a seminary dean and parish priest. If I could work from Oskaloosa during the planning of conferences and then be present for their execution, I would be very interested in pursuing this ministry opportunity.
