DAVENPORT — Alumni and supporters of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School kicked off a yearlong celebration of the school’s 100th anniversary June 13 and 14.
Julie Delaney, the school’s longtime principal who retired June 30, shared that 88 golfers attended the golf outing June 13 at Emeis Golf Course and the next day more than 100 people attended Mass at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, followed by dinner and school tours. The oldest attendee was 101 and the person who traveled the farthest was from California, she said.
Father Bruce DeRammeleare, the parish’s pastor, presided at Mass. Former pastors and associates concelebrated — Fathers Tony Herold, Mike Spiekermeier and Bill Kneemiller.
The school opened Aug. 30, 1926. Celebrations will continue into next year with a spring gala as its finale.
