VA chaplain is Employee of the Month

Father Damian Ilokaba recently earned Employee of the Month distinction for his work at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City. Father Ilokaba, a Nigerian native and retired priest of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, has served as Catholic Staff Chaplain since 2017. He also serves as Sacramental Minister of Ss. Joseph & Cabrini Parish in Richland/East Pleasant Plain.

Nominators said Father Ilokaba “displays exceptional teamwork every day with the chaplains and all staff members. He improves the health outcomes of patients by providing spiritual comfort, validation, hope, encouragement, and the sacraments of the Roman Catholic faith. He always suggests ways to improve our spiritual care and patient support. He is tireless and hardworking. He never misses work because of his devotion to serving others, which inspires those who work with him.”
