Embracing Jesus

To the Editor:
“Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me…” Mark 9:37

Jesus embraces human life in all of its forms, especially the lives of babies and children. In our narcissistic and self-centered world focused on materialism and status, Jesus offers us a countercultural solution that brings ultimate joy and hope to our world. This solution has been rooted in western culture since the dawn of Christianity and I believe it is the greatest form of evangelization the Church can currently witness.

When couples are open to life, they mirror the love of God and are channels of this love for our world. The miracle of new life is an antidote to the emptiness of the culture of death and fills this emptiness with the presence of God.

Whether we are a parent, grandparent, relative, babysitter or friend, we all have a role in the nurturing of new life and the future of our Church and society. When we embrace life, we embrace Jesus. Let us all swing open the narrow gate that leads us to Jesus. Let his light eliminate the darkness of this present age and offer hope for our weary world.
