To the Editor:
What a pleasant surprise it was to see a tent for the Diocese of Davenport at the Muscatine County Fair in West Liberty last week. My husband and I had a pleasant chat with two of the deacons. They had been busy blessing 4-H animals and talking to fairgoers. Later, I saw a deacon visiting with an elderly gentleman in the antiques section. It was clear they were having fun discussing their passion for things from the past.
We hear lots about evangelization but it seems intimidating. Watching these kind men smiling, making small talk and offering small tokens of our faith, they made evangelization seem easy.
I hope that the Catholic Church and the Diocese of Davenport can be represented in such a friendly way in other events in the future!
