Raphael Akindele, the brother of Father Nicholas Akindele, has been released following his kidnapping in Nigeria on April 7, Good Friday. Father Akindele, pastor of Holy Family and St. Alphonsus parishes in Davenport, shared his joy on Facebook April 11:

“Raphael is free!! Pray for his health and strength! Pray for the conversion of his abductors. Thanksgiving and praise!! Amen. Thank you all for your prayers and support. Our family is indeed grateful for a supportive and Christian community all over the world. Thank you all!!!”

Raphael’s wife, Elizabeth, had contacted Father Akindele on Good Friday about the kidnapping of her husband, the priest’s younger brother. Father had asked for prayers for the safety and release of his brother. His brother and sister-in-law and their children live in Ilorin, Kwara State in Nigeria.

Additional details are not available at this time.
