Puthoff earns Eagle Scout rank

Alexander Puthoff of Bettendorf has earned his Eagle Scout rank.

BETTENDORF — Alexander Puthoff, 14, a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, earned his Eagle Scout rank. He is the son of Michael and Diane Puthoff.

A member of Troop 199 chartered by the Bettendorf Lions Club, Alex’s Court of Honor is scheduled for Aug. 21.

He earned 51 merit badges and participated in numerous scouting service projects and programs. He held numerous leadership positions and currently is the senior patrol leader for his troop.

For his Eagle Scout project, Alex collaborated with the Center for Active Seniors, Inc., in Davenport, to design and build a sensory room for clients with memory issues. He researched memory issues and design possibilities for the room. He supervised the painting of the room, construction of a sensory wall, building of a bench and stand for sensory items, assembly of sensory items and helped with the layout of the room. The project involved 168 service hours. K&K Hardware in Bettendorf and the Eldridge Lumber Company contributed toward the project.

Alex is a student at Pleasant Valley High School.
