Peace will be hard to achieve

To the Editor:

I find Allan G. Ross’ letter to the editor (5-27-21) rather illustrative of why peace between the Palestinians and Israelis is so hard to achieve. It is not just “that Hamas and Islamic Jihad commit war crimes.” The IDF has plenty to answer for. Ross does not mention that Israel’s 1967 “preemptive strike” captured territory and has held much of it in violation of international law and United Nation’s Resolution 242. He fails to mention the Nakba, expulsions of Palestinians from their land. Organizations such as Jewish Voices for Peace and JStreet have a far more realistic and authentically Jewish perspective, in my opinion. Perhaps the Catholic News Service sees things pretty clearly.
