For The Catholic Messenger
Exodus 90, a 90-day Catholic spiritual experience for men, begins Jan. 4.
The program, which leads up to Easter Sunday, is based on prayer, asceticism and fraternity. “All three of these pillars are essential aspects of Christian life. It is for this reason that taking up this spiritual exercise requires taking up all three of those pillars simultaneously and humbly,” the Exodus website states.
Here are some details about the program:
Prayer: Read and reflect on daily Scripture, make a daily holy hour.
Asceticism: Practice disciplines such as taking short, cold showers and abstaining from alcohol, desserts, sweets, eating between meals, watching TV, playing video games and using the internet (minus work and essential tasks such as paying bills).
Fraternity: Journey with five to seven men from your area each week.
To get started, visit www.exodus90.com and download the app. There is a one-week free trial. After that the cost for Exodus 90 is $10 per month or $90 for a year.
After downloading the app, learn more about the program, invite other men to join, pick a start date and “grow in a relationship with Jesus Christ.”
Exodus 90 is for men only. Women are encouraged to visit https://endowgroups.org/ as an alternative.
