To the Editor:
I appreciated Deacon Derick Cranston’s recent invitation to “open your heart and let God’s love penetrate you.” What a beautiful description of prayer! How many wonderful ways we have to do this: reciting well-known prayers, speaking to God from the heart, singing, listening to uplifting music, reading Scripture or spiritual books, participating in liturgies and sacraments, volunteering, sitting with God in eucharistic adoration.
Perhaps the hardest way of all in this day and age when we feel like we need to be doing something all the time is to simply be quiet and listen, to “sit at the feet of the Lord and simply be in his presence.”
