IOWA CITY — Mercy Health Network President and CEO Dave Vellinga has appointed Shane Cerone as interim chief executive officer of Mercy Iowa City. Cerone assumed his post late last month.
Cerone has more than 20 years of leadership experience in health care. He has served as president of Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich., and currently serves as chief executive officer of Health Market Solutions. Cerone also previously served in leadership roles at University of Iowa Health Care for more than a decade, and completed his graduate work in hospital and health administration at the University of Iowa.
Vellinga says he looks forward to Cerone’s return to Iowa City. “He will play a key role in helping advance our healing ministry and continue Mercy Iowa City’s long tradition of providing excellent health care to the community.”
Mercy Health Network and its two owner-members own and operate eight medical centers and other services in six major markets in Iowa: Clinton, Des Moines, Dubuque, Mason City, Sioux City and Waterloo/Cedar Falls and community hospitals in seven other locations.
