To the Editor:
The recent article by Deborah Kuiken (Nov. 17, 2016) “How virtue development exists in natural death” is the most profound, life-supporting article I have read in your paper. Our culture avoids suffering at all costs. “Death with Dignity” and “Compassionate Choice” — how do we argue against such sympathetic, loving-sounding movements? This courageous, gifted woman has a message vital to our time. I pray that she will be encouraged to share more of her insight with readers of the Messenger.
