A new baby coming at Christmastime

Facebooktwittermail

Five-year-old Abby asks her pregnant mother how the baby got into her tummy.

THE question has come.
How to respond?
Since a child is always ready for mystical answers, let’s go to the very beginning.
To the fundamentals.
I love you, says Mom, and I love Daddy.
But mommies and daddies have a special kind of love so strong that they can make babies.
Something like God.
They get to create new life.
A brand new person to love.
They can do that because they promise to always be good for each other no matter what happens, always no matter how hard it might be, always no matter what anyone else does.
Daddy and I have that kind of special love.
Something like God.
And because of it, God gave us you, and God gave us Nate, and God is giving us this new baby.
Like God gives us Jesus at Christmas.
Jesus who grew in Mary’s tummy just like our new baby is growing in mine.
Because of love.
Such a wonderful gift!
