Hills — Julie Marner, president of Burundi Friends International, will speak at St. Joseph Parish in Hills Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. Marner was a member of St. Joseph Parish – Wellman before moving out of the area to pursue her mission. Burundi is one of the poorest countries in the world and BFI works to diminish poverty by providing education, healthcare and economic empowerment. BFI ambassador Fabrice Bizimana and board member Thierry Yungenge will be at the event, as will BFI scholarship recipient Fabrice Bizimana.
