Holy Family and St. Anthony teaming up to host parish renewal

DAVENPORT — St. Anthony and Holy Family parishes have teamed up to offer a parish renewal with John Donahue-Grossman.

The theme will be “Feeding the Hungers of Our Lives” and the renewal will be held Nov. 23-25, said Shirley Evers of St. Anthony Parish.

Donahue-Grossman of Chicago has served in various areas of ministry for 27 years. He has been a parish youth minister, high school theology department chair and teacher and a development director.

Currently he is director of retreats at LaSalle Manor Retreat Center in Plano, Ill.

He has presented in the Diocese of Davenport several times in the past, including the diocesan youth rally.

Renewal schedule is as follows:

Nov. 23: 7-8:30 p.m., presentation “Be All You Can Be – What’s Holding Me Back?” at St. Anthony Parish. It will focus on stories of the desert from Luke 4:1-13.
Nov. 24: 8 a.m., Mass at Holy Family Church. A social will follow in the parish hall; 9-10 a.m., presentation in Holy Family Parish hall; 1-2 p.m., presentation at Assumption High School; 7-8:30 p.m., presentation at St. Anthony Parish on “Worthy or Unworthy – We Are Called to be Disciples.” It will reflect on stories of healing based on John: 4:4-30.
Nov. 25: 8 a.m., Mass with anointing of the sick at Holy Family Church. Social to follow in the parish hall; 9-10 a.m., presentation in Holy Family parish hall; 1-2 p.m., presentation at All Saints Catholic School; 7-8:30 p.m., presentation at St. Anthony Parish on “The Call to Discipleship – The Call to Action.” It is based on the call to discipleship from John 231: 15-19.
Child care will not be provided. A good-will offering will be accepted.
