Immigrants and freedom trains — why not adopt?
To the Editor:
There have been several letters recently in the editorial asking how we can help the immigrants (especially children) who are coming into our country. I keep remembering the orphan trains of the early 20th century, when so many children were adopted. It seems like the perfect solution, or at least something that would help a family. I wish I were younger and in my own home.
