CONFERENCES
Davenport – Father Bill Kneemiller has reserved a chartered bus for March 29, headed to St. Francis Parish in West Des Moines for the Iowa Men’s Conference. The bus will leave from Davenport, with a stop at St. Patrick Parish in Iowa City to pick up participants. The trip costs $30 for travelers leaving from Davenport and $22 for Iowa City travelers. EDUCATIONAL
Bettendorf – People are welcome to a Life in the Spirit Seminar over seven Thursdays, through April 10, from 7-9 p.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Chur­ch. The seminar consists of presentations, small group sharing, prayer and music. For more information, email CircleOfLovePrayerGroup@gmail.com.
Clinton – Peace Soup sessions will take place at St. Boniface Center, 2520 Pershing Boulevard, Tuesdays at 6 p.m. during Lent. The events include free soup suppers and presentations on world religions and their paths to peacemaking. March 25 is Judaism, April 1 is Islam and April 8 is Christianity.
Davenport – On March 27, Father Robert Grant will present “Ecocide: Violence and the Environment” at 7 p.m. in the Rogalski Center at St. Ambrose University.
Davenport – Journalist and author Cokie Roberts will visit St. Ambrose Univer­sity’s Christ the King Chapel March 28 from 10-11:30 a.m. She will speak about founding mothers and courageous Sisters in U.S. history.
Iowa City – The Knights of Columbus of St. Wenceslaus Parish invite people to the second annual Culture of Life Dinner with several speakers at the parish hall March 29 at 5 p.m. For more information, call David Fetzer at (319) 400-5695.
LeClaire – “Death Over Dinner,” an overview of advance care planning for health care, is April 8 from 6:15-7:45 p.m. at Our Lady of River Parish. Learn the difference between a living will, advance directive, power of attorney, Iowa Physician Order for Scope of Treatment and more. Pizza will be served.

LITURGY/PRAYER
Bettendorf – Bill Grothus invites people to a peaceful hour of prayer and witness to recognize marriage as a union of one man and one woman. The hour will begin on March 22 at noon at the corner of Happy Joe Drive and Middle Road.
Davenport — A healing Mass will be celebrated Thursday, March 20 at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Confessions start at 6 p.m, praise music at 6:30 p.m and  Mass at 7:15 p.m. All are welcome.
Des Moines County – An Introduction to Centering Prayer is taking place at churches in Burlington, Dodge­ville and West Burlington during Lent. Ruth Skeens facilitates. The next session is March 23, 8:45 a.m., St. John Church, Burlington. For a full schedule, visit http://ssjohnpaulburl.org.

RETREATS

Coralville – St. Thomas More Parish’s Lenten renewal/retreat is March 31 to April 2.  Brother Robert Sylvester, JD, C.S.C. will present.  The theme is taken from Ash Wednesday’s Epistle reading:  “We are ambassadors for Christ.”  Br. Bob, a former lawyer on Capitol Hill, is currently in ministry helping people integrate their faith into work. All sessions are open to the public. Freewill donations will be accepted. Davenport – Eagles’ Wings will hold a Lenten retreat day April 3. “A Cloud of Witnesses” is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with lunch provided. There will be talks, afternoon prayer and silent meditation. Registration is $10: call (563) 324-7263.

Bettendorf – St. John Vianney Parish will host a “first Friday” fish dinner from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on April 4 in the SJV Activity Center. Baked fish or a fish taco dinner is $8; a grilled cheese meal costs $3 and desserts are $1.

Clinton – All Fridays through April 11, St. Edwards Knights of Columbus Council will hold fish fries from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at St. Boniface Hall, 2520 Pershing Blvd. Cost for meals of white fish is $9 for adults, $5 for children 3-12 years old and free for children younger than 3. Seven jumbo shrimp cost $10.
Davenport – St. Alphonsus Parish will hold fish fries on Fridays through April 11 from 4-7 p.m. Meal is $9 for adults and $3 for children. Desserts cost $1.
Davenport – Genesis Foundations in Faith Community Nursing will hold a dedication service March 22 at 3:30 p.m. at Genesis Medical Office Building 2 (East Campus). Twelve students (including nurses, social workers and a physical therapy assistant) will be anointed as health ministers. The dedication service is the culmination of a 35-hour program.
Fort Madison – The Century Strong gala with a fundraising dinner, concert and auction for Holy Trinity Catholic Schools is March 22 at 6 p.m. at Roling Hall. Grinnell – The Knights of Columbus will hold fish fries on Fridays during Lent from 5-7 p.m. in the religious education center. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 5-14, free for children 4 and younger, or $20 for a family. Proceeds benefit youth scholarships.
Iowa City – The Knights of Columbus of St. Mary Parish will hold fish fries at the KC Family Center, 4776 American Legion Road, on Fridays through April 11 from 5-7 p.m. Catfish dinners are $12; shrimp and salmon dinners are $10 each.   For more information, call (319) 341-9097 or e-mail kofc842@gmail.com.

Mount Pleasant – A trivia night will be at 7 p.m. on April 12 at St. Alphonsus Manning Hall, 607 S. Jackson Street.  Reserve a table of eight or an individual spot by April 1. Cost per person is $10. Sandwiches will be available for a freewill donation along with beverages. The evening will include a silent auction, mulligans, and door prizes. Cash prizes for top three teams will be awarded. Muscatine – The Knights of Columbus will hold a shrimp or catfish dinner at Saints Mary and Mathias Catholic School beginning at 5 p.m. Fridays during Lent (excluding Good Friday). Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for children younger than 5.
West Liberty – The Knights of Columbus of St. Joseph’s Parish will hold fish fries on March 28 and April 11 in the Parish Life Center.  Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children 5-12, and free for children under 5.
