Give back to schools

To the Editor:
During Catholic Schools Week celebrated this week across the country, I invite all to remember and say thanks to the Catholic schools you have attended or that your children or grandchildren attend. Our Catholic schools do a tremendous job of educating our youths in academics and faith.  What better time to remember and give back!
I feel blessed to have graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School and Ursuline Academy in Bethesda, Md. My husband graduated from St. Michael’s Grade School in Whittemore, Iowa, and Garrigan High School in Algona, Iowa.
Our five children attended Holy Family, Sacred Heart and St. Alphonsus in Davenport, all of which consolidated as All Saints Catholic Schools 10 years ago. They graduated from Assumption High School in Davenport. They were all well prepared for college and life.  I give much thanks and credit to their Catholic schools.
Please, today or this week, take time to write a check to the Catholic schools which have helped you to become the person you are today. Wouldn’t it be awesome if Catholic elementary and high schools were inundated with donations and thank yous in the coming days? Give whatever you can! It would be a real financial and morale boost to our own alma maters and to the Catholic schools our children and grandchildren attend.
