Iowa City — The Diocese of Davenport’s Catholic Young Adult Network invites 18-39-year-olds to its second annual young adult conference, “Called and Chosen,” on Saturday, Sept. 28 at St. Patrick Church, Iowa City, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Cost is $20 (includes lunch). Burlington – The CAFÉ (Catholic Adult Fellowship Evening) opens for a second season in the Notre Dame School cafeteria on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 6:45 p.m. as Father David Steinle presents “Why Do Catholics Do That?” Child care is provided.
Coralville – St. Thomas More Parish will offer the following Bible studies. On Sundays from 6–8 p.m. is a study and fellowship for couples. This 10-week course on Exodus from the Ascension Press Bible Timeline series will begin Sept. 8 in the multi-purpose room.  On Mondays from 9:30–11 a.m. beginning Sept. 16 is a 10-week course on James from Ascension Press. On Mondays from 7–8:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 16 is a 10-week study called A Quick Journey Through the Bible from Ascension Press in the multi-purpose room. Davenport – Eagles’ Wings will continue the biblical counseling series on Sept. 21 at 9:30 a.m. Participants will view and discuss the videos “Hope Focused Marriage Counseling” and “Divorce Recovery, Starting Over Again.” Registration is $40: call (563) 324-7263.

Davenport – All are invited to the Davenport Deanery Year of Faith celebration Sept. 22 at 3 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Bishop Martin Amos will lead Evening Prayer, the official prayer of the Church. Knights of Columbus councils for the deanery will host a cookout on the lawn north of the cathedral following the celebration.
Davenport – A healing Mass will be celebrated at Eagles’ Wings at 1 p.m. Sept. 10.

Davenport – Soaking With a Purpose prayer meetings will take place at Eagles’ Wings on Sept. 13 and 27 at 7 p.m.


Davenport – Eagles’ Wings will offer a retreat day, “My Beautiful One,” on Sept. 6 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. This silent, directed retreat will focus on “The lover and his beloved” using the spirituality of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Davenport – St. Alphonsus Parish invites people to a day of retreat with Father Bob Miller on Sept. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with services at 3 p.m.  The retreat is titled: “Journeying with Jesus through Human Desires and Holy Longings” and will take place in the church and St. Clements Hall. Wheatland —  Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat invites people to the following events.  On Sept. 10 from 6:30–8:30 p.m. is “Teaching Children to Live as Jesus Lived” with Sister Roberta Brich, CHM. Coralville – Mothers of Young Children (MOYC) invites moms to its 2013-14 kickoff event: a social mixer on Sept. 10 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at St. Thomas More Church. Davenport – A trivia night will take place at Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish Center Sept. 14.  Doors open at 6 p.m.; games begin at 7 p.m. Cost is $10 per person, tables of eight. Mulligans, door prizes and babysitting will be available. The high school youth group will sell walking tacos and drinks. Davenport – A bus trip to Sinsinawa, Wis., will honor the venerable Father Samuel Mazzu­chelli. The bus tour leaves St. Anthony Church at 8 a.m. Sept. 18 and returns by 6 p.m. The trip includes visits to the Dominican Sisters’ museum and rosary chapel in Sinsinawa; St. Augustine Church in New Diggings, Wis.; and St. Patrick Church in Benton, Wis. Davenport – Quad Cities Interfaith will hold a trivia night fundraiser at the Knights of Columbus Hall (first floor), 1111 W. 35th St. on Saturday, Sept. 7. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; the event starts at 7 p.m. Cost is $10 per person or $80 for a table of eight. There will be a 50/50 raffle and basket raffle. DeWitt – St. Joseph Parish will hold its Fall Festival Sunday, Sept. 15 from 3–7 p.m. A beef and pork dinner will cost $9 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12. The event includes bingo, a raffle, bake sale, pop walk, farmers market, children’s games and silent auction.
East Pleasant Plain – Ss. Joseph & Cabrini Parish invites people to its annual bazaar on Sept. 15. Mass is at 9:30 a.m. A buffet dinner with chicken and pork loin is from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Cost is $8 for adults, $3.50 for children ages 3 to 12 years, and free for children younger than 3. A large auction starts at 1 p.m. The day includes a country store, crafts, baked goods, a raffle, Larry’s Horse & Carriage rides, silent auction, kids’ games and a caramel apple booth.
Lone Tree – St. Mary’s fall auction is Sept. 22 at the Lone Tree American Legion. Silent auction runs from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Lunch starts at 11 a.m. Regular auction follows at 1 p.m. People may bid on homemade pies, cakes and crafts.
Mechanicsville – St. Mary Parish will hold its annual ice cream social and country store on Sept. 22 in the parish hall from 4-6:30 p.m. Cost is $6 for adults, $4 for children and free for children 3 and younger. A meal will be served. The event includes crafts, baked goods and a quilt raffle.
Sigourney – St. Mary Parish’s fall festival is Sept. 15 at St. Mary Hall. A smoked pork chop meal – hamburger or chicken for kids – will be served from 4-7 p.m. Cost is $10 at the door or $5 for children 5 and younger. Carry-outs will be available. Raffle tickets for a hand-made quilt are $1 for one, $5 for six or $10 for 12. Tickets for a cash/gift card drawing are $5. Day includes children’s games. St. Mary Sampler cookbooks will be on sale for $15 at the door.
Solon – St. Mary Parish will hold its Harvest Festival on Sept. 22. A pork and chicken dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Cost is $10 for adults and $6 for children ages 6-12. Purchase tickets at weekend Masses, the parish office or at the door. Carry-outs will be available. The day includes children’s and family activities, a country store, silent auction. There will be a raffle with a first prize of a Kinnick Stadium suite for Oct. 26. Raffle tickets cost $5 each or five for $20.
