Mrs. Butler died peacefully Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the Kahl Home in Davenport.

Mary Catherine Becherer was born February 26, 1922, in Baden, St. Louis County, Missouri, the only child of Louis and Catherine Marie (Quinn) Becherer.  She was united in marriage to Laurence Walter Butler on June 10, 1950 in St. Louis.  He preceded her in death August 19, 2007.  They had celebrated nearly sixty-years of marriage at the time of Larry’s passing.

She was a former member of Holy Family Church. On her seventh birthday, her parents bought Mary a baby grand piano, which commenced a lifelong passion for music.  She began taking piano lessons at that tender age, went on to high school at Nerinx Hall in St. Louis, and later attended Webster Groves College on a scholarship to study piano and voice.  She played professionally for many years, accompanying the Missouri Athletic Club Choral Group.  While raising her family, Mary taught piano and voice lessons out of the family home.

Mary continued her formal education by attending Scott Community College, obtaining her Licensed Practical Nurse degree.  She worked for many years as an oncology nurse for Dr. George River at Internal Medicine Associates.

Memorials may be made to the Kahl Home and Beacon of Hope Hospice.

Those left to cherish her memory include, daughters and sons, Laurie (Jerry) Stoner, Sarasota, FL, and her daughters, Andrea, and Gina; a daughter, Danna (Mike) Motto, Davenport, and their children, Michael, Joseph, Emily, and Annie; a daughter, Theresa Butler, Davenport; a daughter, Mary Ann Feffer, Colorado Springs, CO, and her children, Sophie and Armand; a son, Larry (Chery) Butler, Phoenix, AZ, and their children, Hillary, Laurence, Joella and Blaise; a son, Jerome (Shera) Butler, Sacramento, CA, and his children, Tristan, Erin, Ulysses, Mary Catherine, and Genevieve Marie; great grandchildren, Isabella, Julia and Darian Motto; Samantha Cameron; and Conor and Alex Wright.
