Everyone should notice the pictures from heaven’s anteroom in our newspapers these days. Its high school basketball tournament time and victory girls are showing us the face of pure, uninhibited glee.
There’s something transcendent about the way girls react to winning.
The boys are obviously thrilled when they win, too, but their celebration face has a hint of macho bravado in it. It’s not the winning alone that elevates the boys’ spirits, it’s the dominating of others. Being on top.
